From the Director
Apologies for my absence over recent weeks. With washouts and rain delays, it was a frustrating time for the club from mid-November onwards to Xmas. Certainly the highlight during this period being the victory over Dandenong in the final of the Primary Edge 20Twenty competition. Once again our bowlers proved the difference with Babula, Downton, Smith, Beer, and Warren pegging back the Dandenong bats after they had got away to a promising start. Finally dismissed for 113, our batsmen had little trouble in securing victory, with handy contributions from Andrew McGuiness 28, Glen Lalor 38no, Ryan Heywood 18no. Shagga secured the man of the match award. The coaches award on the night went to Dan Babula for his 3 wickets in a hostile spell of fast bowling. Congratulations on our first silverware in this competition. Lets hope there is some more to come later in the season. Around the grades there has been mixed fortunes. Some highlights have been : Gareth Cross 111 v Fitz-Donc Rosh Livera 40 v Haw 64 v Camb 56 v Fitz
Andrew Downton 45no & 2/41 v Hawth-Mon Dan Parisi 5/45 3/35 v Haw Bob Quiney 78 v Fitz-Donc Simon O’Brien 3/35 v Carl Ryan Heywood 56no V Fitz-Donc Nick Storey 72no v Carl Kieran O’Connor 45no v Camb 54 v Hawth-Mon Mat Kile 30 v Hawth 4/30 v Carlton 63no V Fitz 2/19 V Fitz Will Russell 50no V Carl Dimiti Deane 37 v Camb 54 v Hawth-Mon 87 v Fitz-Donc Andy Power 89 v Camb 47 v Fitz-Donc 47 v Carlton
Special mentions to Daniel Forbes and Billy Biggs for consistent efforts without getting a big one (yet). Also to our resident Poms for their contributions which have been excellent to date. A pleasure to have you here. I trust you enjoyed your Xmas, new year break and are keen for action and hopefully finals come the end of the season. Good luck to those who will be participating in the pathway competitions shortly. Be sure to represent your club well and play good spirited cricket.
